Influenza Vaccination 2020-2021

October 09, 2020

Influenza Vaccination for 2020-2021

Our clinic now has influenza vaccines. We received only a limited supply of flu vaccines this year. As a result, we are trying to prioritize those who are at a higher risk for influenza as listed below:

  • Adults 65 years of age and older with chronic medical conditions

  • Patients with cardiac or pulmonary disorders (includes bronchopulmonary dysplasia, cystic fibrosis and asthma)

  • Patients with poorly controlled diabetes mellitus

  • Patients with significant kidney/renal disease

  • Patients with cancer or immune compromising conditions (due to underlying disease, therapy or both)

  • Patients with neurologic or neurodevelopmental conditions (includes neuromuscular, neurovascular, neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental conditions and seizure disorders

  • Patients with morbid obesity (body mass index [BMI] of 40 and over)

  • Children younger than 5 years old (pharmacy cannot administer the flu shot to children younger than 5 years old).

If you do not have any of the above conditions and feel well enough to go to the pharmacy to receive a flu vaccine, please consider visiting your pharmacy for the flu vaccine this year. The pharmacies will be carrying high dose influenza vaccines for seniors over age 65 this year. If you meet the criteria for the high-risk population as listed above or if you cannot find the pharmacy to administer flu vaccine, please call our clinic to inquire about this year's flu shot.

Thank you for understanding and your support!
